Bridgehampton, NY. - With this image that I took on Friday, July 5th, 2019 at the VIP opening of the Market Art + Design art fair in Bridgehampton, I'm officially relaunching -for the 3rd time- this website that I started five years ago.

Keeping a blog updated is challenging for me. Time factor and being poorly organized are two of the main reasons I haven't being able to keep posting regularly here.

The English languague has been another setback for me, as I don't fully command it as fluently as a person who has spoken it all his / her life. But, I keep studying, learning new words and reading more. I'm better organized this time.
I'M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE!

So, as I was saying, I took the image above as part of my coverage of the Market Art + Design VIP opening. The ladies in it are but three of the many personalities that attended the event.

We can see, from left to right: Dr. Monica Fornier, Actress Dara Sowell and Art Dealer and Galleria Ca'd'Oro owner Gloria Portella. Behind them is artwork created by Ewa Bathelier, represented by Galleria Ca'd'Oro, which participated in the so called "East End's premier art fair".

The Market Art + Design art fair is produced by About Art Market Productions, a Brooklyn based firm owned and operated by Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause. This was its 9th edition and it took place at the Bridgehampton Museum from july 5th - 7th, 2019.

DON AND KATRINA PEEBLES HOST AN EVENING OF COCKTAILS AND CONVERSATIONS

Bridgehampton, NY. - On Friday, July 7th, 2017, I visited the Hamptons for the very first time. A beautiful little town called Bridgehampton, Long Island was my destination.

I went there because I was invited to attend an event to benefit the New York City Mission Society, which is a non profit organization that has been on the front lines of the war on poverty for more than 200 years.

I arrived two hours before the event, because, unlike the New York City subway system, where you can catch a train every 5 minutes, the MTA Long Island Railroad runs on a very strict schedule. You either have the option to arrive to your destination too early, or too late.

The weather was pleasantly warm, so I decided to walk from the train station, to the address where the event was going to take place. To my surprise, I found out that many streets don't have frigging sidewalks. That really freaked me out!

I had calculated the distance, from the train station to the private home of the Peebles family, where the event was going to happen, so I thought that I could get there by walking. Let me tell you, it wasn't close at all, yet I was up to the challenge, but the fact of finding out a lack of sidewalks was a total turn off for me.

So I decided to take a cab instead.

Stanley, Leah and Cole Rumbough.
Once I got there, I greeted a group of employees who were hired for this event. Their task was to take the guests from the very entrance of the sprawling estate, to the door of the actual house... in a golf cart!

I think I was the first guest to arrive, because all I could see was the hardworking catering staff, still getting ready for the event.

Now, the New York City Mission Society, as its name says it, it's based on the Big Apple. So why did anyone decided to organize an event in a remote location, as far as Bridgehampton, Long Island?.

Well, turns out that philanthropist power couple Don and Katrina Peebles were kind enough to offer their private home to make the event there, as part of their continuing support for the non profit institution, which each year,  serves more than 12,000 children and families throughout New York City with their programs, supportive services, and community events.

Dawn Bodenchak and Nancy Pearson.

So, the Peebles hosted this evening of cocktails and conversations to honor the New York City Mission Society, which helps youth and families break the cycle of poverty and achieve success through its educational, workforce development, cultural enrichment, and community-building programs, all of which make a positive, long-term impact on the city’s most underserved communities by promoting academic achievement, and providing career opportunities and cultural enrichment.
